Shahid Afridi Pakistan Cricket Player

Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi was born in 1975 and he is known ad Boom Boom. He is a Pakistani cricketer and former captain of the Pakistan cricket team. His general style of batting is very aggressive and attack-oriented. Shahid Afridi aggressive style increases his risk of getting out, and he was the world record holder for the fastest one-day international century in the 37 deliveries. Afridi was a successful all-rounder, and he has taken Test wickets and over 350 in one-day international matches. He holds a record for most player-of-the-match awards in T20 cricket.

After excellent performances at the under-19 championship circuit starting the 1994–95 season, Afridi drafted to the Pakistan senior national team. During the four-nation Sameer Cup 1996–97, Afridi was drafted into the ODI team in October 1996 as a leg spinner as a replacement for the injured Mushtaq Ahmed. Afridi broke the record for the fastest century in his first international innings in ODI cricket, making his hundred in 37 deliveries. He struck the eleven sixes also equalled the record for most in ODI innings. On 22 October 1998, Afridi made his Test debut in the third game of a three-match series against Australia.

 Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket on 19 February. 2017. In the Hurricane Relief T20 Challenge (charity match), he made a brief return to international cricket after being selected to captain the World XI against West Indies in 2018. On 31 May 2018, Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket at the Lord’s cricket stadium, following the conclusion of the match.

Afridi was awarded the Pride of Performance by President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on 23 March 2010. He was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain on 23 March 2018.

Afridi established the Shahid Afridi Foundation in March 2014 which aims to provide education and healthcare facilities in Pakistan. In Aug. 2015, he named among the world’s most charitable athletes by Do Something. In the tribal belt of lawless Waziristan region, UNICEF and many Pakistani authorities have taken Afridi on board for the anti-polio campaign.
